Decoding the Gita, India's book of answers | Roopa Pai | TEDxNMIMSBangalore
Should you read the Bhagavad Gita as a religious book? That's one way to read India's timeless classic. But there are several other ways to enjoy a text that is the ultimate manifesto for individual, communal and environmental well-being. In this talk, Indian author Roopa Pai, whose award-winning contemporary retelling 'The Gita For Children' became 2015's runaway bestseller, teases out some of those ways. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community
Roopa Pai is a computer engineer who always knew she wanted to write for children. She is the author of over twenty books, including Taranauts, India's first fantasy-adventure series, and the pop science book 'What If The Earth Stopped Spinning?' A new book on Economics for children is due out in February 2017. Her national bestseller 'The Gita For Children' won the Crossword Popular Award for Children's Fiction in 2016. Roopa brings together three other loves - history, young people, and her hometown Bangalore - in her job as tour guide with the heritage walks and tours company BangaloreWalks. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
